To acquire a British passport, the residency period requirement must be met
The appropriate type of visa is opened for 3 years and can be extended to 5 years. After 5 years of living in UK, permanent residency may be issued. In one year after obtaining permanent residency, investor can apply for a United Kingdom passport.
During 5 years it is allowed to stay outside the UK for 450 days, and in the last year before applying for citizenship the allowed period of absence is 90 days. After acquiring UK citizenship and obtaining a passport, the investor no longer has to comply with requirements for the residency period.
