To receive a Moldovan passport, the foreign applicant should obtain a Certificate of citizenship. According to the Law On citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and terms of the MCBI program, citizen status is assigned for investing in the Sustainable Development Fund. Participation in the program is allowed to persons over the age of 18, with a clean criminal record and without refusals to enter visa-free countries for Moldova. Each applicant should undergo a medical examination and a due diligence check, as well as confirm the legal income source. The spouse, children under the age of 29 and parents over the age of 55 are allowed to obtain a Moldovan passport together with the investor.

After the contribution stipulated by the program is made, the investor is issued a Certificate of Moldova citizenship within 3 months, which proves the assignment of a citizen status. On the basis of the received Certificate, passport and other internal Moldovan documents are issued.
