The procedure for issuing a Greek passport provides for compliance with regulations concerning residency period in the country. The first step of the procedure is to obtain a Greek residence permit, which is allowed to be renewed every 5 years. After 7 years of living in Greece, it is allowed to apply for citizenship. A residence permit can be issued through the government investment program, which offers several options for investment.
Real estate acquisition
The applicant should invest in one or more real estate objects with a total value of more than € 250,000. This investment option involves retention of invested funds for 5 years with the right to sell real estate after this period.
Renting property
When choosing this option, the investor must rent accommodations in the tourist facility for a period of not less than 10 years, subject to a total rental cost of at least € 250,000.
Government project
The investor should contribute € 250,000 to the Greek government project, subject to implementing innovations and creating jobs for citizens and permanent residents of Greece. The contribution is non-refundable.
