First of all, prior to receive Portuguese passport, you are required to obtain Citizenship certificate. According to the current legislation, in order to acquire Portuguese citizenship, an applicant must live in the country for at least 6 years from the date of obtaining a temporary residence permit. Under the terms of Golden Residence Permit Program, a residence permit by investment in the economic development of the country is issued for 1 year with the right of extension up to 5 years and the followed by a permanent residence permit afterwards.
