In order to obtain a Spanish passport in accordance with article 5 of Royal decree 1553/2005 of 23 December, the applicant must legally reside in the territory of the state for 10 years, obtain citizenship of the country and submit a request to the Ministry of the Interior. According to legislative standards and the terms of the investment program, in order to apply for a Spanish passport, the applicant should be over the age of 18, provide a health insurance policy issued in Spain, have a sufficient amount to provide for himself and his family while staying in the country, and to prove that he has no criminal records in the EU and in the country of his previous permanent residence. Together with the main investor, his spouse, children and parents are also eligible to obtain a passport.
