Creating a business with an annual turnover of more than CHF 1,000,000, which creates jobs for Swiss residents, as well as promotes the introduction of new technologies, is one of the options for obtaining a citizenship certificate. Another one option is to pay annual lump-sum tax during 10 years in the amount of at least CHF 100,000 per year. After fulfillment of these investment conditions and staying in the country for at least 10 years you are allowed to apply for Swiss passport. Residency requirements depend on the legislation of a particular canton (administrative unit of Switzerland). On the basis of the certificate of citizenship, you are issued an ID-card and passport for a period of 10 years with the right of extension. For minors the validity of passport is 5 years. In special cases, citizens are provided with a temporary passport, which is recognized as valid for crossing the borders of some countries during 12 months.
