The government of Dominica offers foreigners the opportunity to obtain a passport in exchange for investment in the country's economy. Investors have to choose between two investment options: a contribution to the Economic Diversification Fund (EDF) or purchase of real estate. The terms of the program include investment in such options as the Economic Diversification Fund (EDF) or government-approved real estate. Processing the application and making a decision on granting citizenship is carried out by a special state body - Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU).
Dominica passport is valid for 10 years for adults, and 5 years for children under the age of 16. Renewal of the document is carried out in the Dominica Passport and Immigration Department or any nearest Consulate of the state.
Economic Diversification Fund (EDF)
EDF was established to optimize the national budget of Dominica, as a part of the citizenship by investment program. The investments are used for the implementation of public and private projects. The amount of non-refundable fee for obtaining a passport by the main applicant is $ 100,000, when applying with a spouse - $ 175,000, when applying with a spouse and 2 dependents – $ 200,000. Inclusion of additional financially dependent relatives will cost $ 25,000 per each.
Real estate acquisition
To obtain a Dominica passport through the purchase of the real estate, it is necessary to invest more than $ 200,000 in a government-approved project. Real estate property remains in the ownership of the investor for at least 3 years after he becomes the citizen of Dominica, and the right to re-sell it to another participant of the program appears after 5 years. When selecting this option the additional fees should also be paid.
