Acquisition of Spanish citizenship by investment is available through obtaining residence permit under Golden Residence Permit program (also known as a Golden Visa Program).
In order to be granted residence permit, it is necessary to open an investor visa and make an investment in the economy of the state. The process of obtaining citizen status is regulated by the Law No. 14 of 2013 on Support for Entrepreneurs and their Internationalisation and Spanish nationality law. Investments are made in business, real estate, securities or banking sector. Residence permit in Spain is valid for 1 year and is subject to extension for a period of 2 years. 1 Choose investment option

2 Obtain government approval

3 Get a visa

4 Receive residence permit
To obtain a residence permit, you need to apply to the Ministry of Economy of Spain. The decision is made within 20 business days. You will need to confirm the availability of funds for living in the country, no criminal record in Spain and in the country of origin, health insurance policy, provide 3 photos and receipts of registration fees payment. Residence permit is issued for 2 years with the right for further extension.
5 Apply for permanent residency
After a 5-year period of residence in a country with a temporary residence permit, the investor becomes eligible to apply for permanent residence. To obtain permanent resident status, you must comply with the requirements for staying in Spain. The period of residence outside Spanish territory must be less than 10 months in 5 years.
6 Granting of citizenship
After 10 years of permanent residence in Spain it is possible to apply for citizenship. Application approval by the Spanish government will allow the investor and his family members to receive EU citizen status and to obtain Spanish passports.
